After 90 days, AWS permanently deletes any content remaining in your account, and shuts down any AWS services that you didn't shut down. you can stop and start instances with instance store volumes and then restore your instance store volume using the backed-up data. By default, Amazon EC2 deletes all EBS volumes that were attached when the instance launched. I saw somewhere that I would only get charged for EBS storage.
